The IDCARE Foundation aims to provide cyberpsychological and technical support services to victims of scams, cybercrimes and identity theft that risk destitution and psychiatric injuries. Our Cyberpsychology and Cyber Security Support Centres benefit directly from the leading research of our College of Experts and the support we extend to academic researchers and students in advancing novel and innovative treatments.
Our work has been informed by over a decade of scholarly research that has identified the serious harms and acuate needs confronting a subset of these victims that risk destitution and psychiatric injuries. The Foundation’s work continues to benefit from leading academic and clinical research on the serious harms and treatments in response to these growing threats to our community. Our Cyberpsychology and Cyber Security Clinics operating from our Foundation benefit directly from the leading research of our College of Experts and the support we extend to academic researchers and students in advancing novel and innovative treatments.
Our specialist support services are available to any member of the community irrespective of where they reside. The engagements that we have are telephone-based and are provided during extended business hours.
The Foundation was formed to address a critical support gap for individuals confronting the most serious harms and impacts from online deceptions, such as cybercrimes and data breach events. Engagements with our specialist staff are arranged via a referral-based booking system with IDCARE's case management team. A client's IDCARE case manager will extend the foundation's specialist support services where needed.
Our Cyberpsychologists work with clients to identify the behavioural effects of the crimes experienced. Clients benefit from practical advice and treatment considerations extended by the Centre staff. These sessions, with the client's permission, can lead to an assessment that can be used to engage longer term, localised support. The Centre also advances research on the impacts of these crimes, that generate new knowledge on the appropriateness of diagnosis and treatment strategies.
This clinic offers leading technical research, development and support to address the evolving cybersecurity threats posed by crimes of deception. The connection between devices and human behaviour is a key focus of the treatments extended and the research undertaken. Like the cyberpsychology work, access to the support services from the Clinic is based on a referral-based booking system from IDCARE. The Clinic also undertakes leading work in the support of small businesses.
The starting point for any client is the same, and originates from a engagement with IDCARE's National Case Management Centre. This can be booked online via IDCARE's Get Help for Individuals webpage. The services on offer by the foundation are also on offer to IDCARE clients who experience the most serious harm.
The foundation is able to access insights and content which assists in informing the specialist advice and support provided to community members who are assessed to be at risk of psychiatric injury.
